Silent Hill 1

Photobucket

The game's opening cinematic depicts Harry Mason and his daughter, Cheryl, driving at night to the resort town of Silent Hill for a vacation. A police officer on a motorbike drives past his jeep, but moments later, Harry avoid hitting a girl, who seems to have been standing in the road. Regaining consciousness and discovering Cheryl is missing, Harry spots the same motorbike lying unattended by the side of the road.
He sets off to find her in the foggy streets of Silent Hill; following what appears to be Cheryl in the distance, he finds himself in an alleyway that transforms at the sound of an air raid siren into a hellish version of the alleyway, covered in blood, rust, and with a body tied to the metal railings.
After being ambushed and seemingly overcome by pale, child-like monsters, he awakens in a cafe, with the world returned to its foggy state, and meets Cybil Bennett, the police officer whose motorbike they passed earlier.

Characters

Harold Mason
Protagonist
Age: 32
Occupation: Writer

Harold (Harry) Mason lost his wife to a deadly disease three years after they found a child abandoned on the side of the road in Silent Hill.
Years later, Harry brings his adopted daughter, Cheryl, back to Silent Hill. Their trip is cut short by a mysterious accident and with his daughter missing, Harry finds himself going deeper and deeper into a disturbing world, where in he discovers secrets and a history connected to Cheryl that is far greater than he ever imagined. Despite the horrors he encounters, he is desperate to find Cheryl, by any means necessary.
Though Silent Hill is unique in the fact that its games do not contain all knowing, ready to fight at any minute Protagonists, Harry Mason is infamous for his clumsy ways, and rather "sissy mary" way of dealing with things - which some blame on his occupation as a writer.
He is also not a very good driver.

Cybil Bennett
Age: 22
Occupation: Police Officer

There's been some trouble communicating with the officials in Silent Hill, so Officer Cybil Bennett has been sent to investigate the issue. She often runs into Harry during his confusing and terrifying journey through Silent Hill to find Cheryl. Cybil is trained in child psychology, and once she learns that Harry is missing his daughter, she considers it her duty to find her. With a mysterious attitude, it's hard to tell if Cybil's intentions are for good, or evil...
Either way, she may not be a better driver than Harry, but she looks better doing it.

Fans of the Movie will recognise Cybil Bennett's appearance and name. She was brought to life on the big screen by actress Laurie Holden who recaptured Cybil's passionate and at times, hostile attitude, perfectly.

Cheryl Mason
Age 7
Occupation: Perpetually wandering child

Cheryl's past is steeped in dark mystery. Found seemingly abandoned on the side of the road by Harold Mason and his wife, she goes missing seven years later when Harry brings her to Silent Hill for a little vacation. (Why the hell would you take your child to where you found her abandoned on the side of the road for a vacation?) It turns out that Cheryl has a connection to Alessa Gillespie - a young girl with extraordinary psychic powers who was offered as a sacrifice, by her mother Dahlia Gillespie, who was the leader of a cult known as The Order.
Movie fans will recognise the connection between Cheryl and Alessa which was adopted into the 2006 film and became the connection between Sharon DaSilva (Played by actress Jodelle Ferland) and Alessa Gillespie.

Dahlia Gillespie
Age Enough to know better (Approx: 46)
Occupation Cult Leader

Dahlia Gillespie is, gently put, "eccentric". She is the leader of a cult named The Order, who worship fallen angels. She gave birth to her daughter, Alessa, and immediately noticed strange, if not dark and chaotic, spirits surrounding her daughter. As the years went by, Alessa grew into a young child and was branded as a witch by her classmates and Dahlia's fellow Cult members. Dahlia firmly believed that her daughter's powers were linked to the dark God her Cult worshipped. Her dedication to her beliefs and those of the rest of the Cult led Dahlia to perform an occult ritual to impregnant her daughter with their great "God". To release the God, Dahlia set fire to their home with Alessa locked inside. Her daughter barely survived the fire, thanks to an incantation invoked by her mother, but was left horribly disfigured.
When Dahlia encounters Harry, she is full of riddles and hints as to where his daughter may be found. An ever slippery and treacherous person with a horrible past, Dahlia is a character Silent Hill fans won't soon forget.
Dahlia Gillespie gets a second chance at being likeable in the 2006 Movie, Silent Hill.
She is played by actress Deborah Kara Unger, and is transformed into a misled, but well meaning Mother who sees her child tortured and disfigured by an obsessed and psychotic Cult in Silent Hill.

Lisa Garland
Age ???
Occupation Nurse

Lisa Garland is a nurse who is charged with the duty of taking care of a comatose patient Alessa Gillespie. She is addicted to a drug called "White Claudia" which is being distributed by the hospital's administrator, Dr. Michael Kaufmann who is supplied by Silent Hill's resident cult. While constantly changing the bandages of her patient, who's burns never seem to heal but instead constantly ooze blood and pus, Lisa questions, "What is keeping this girl alive?"
Strangely enough, Harry Mason only seems to encounter Lisa while he is in the "Alternate" world full of violence, monsters, gore, and (while in the hospital) demonic nurses. He finds her huddled inside a room, hiding from the monsters.
Despite her sweet disposition, Lisa is surrounded by dark mystery, like many other characters. As the game progresses, one begins to question whether or not the constant changing of Alessa's bandages has taken a toll on more than Lisa's sanity..
Lisa Garland is also known as The Red Nurse, who was brought to life in the 2006 Movie by actress Emily Lineham

Dr. Micheal Kauffman
Age ???
Occupation Doctor/Physician

This Doctor always seems to know more than he is willing to share with Harry. He is the director of medical staff at Alchemilla Hospital, however he refers to himself as someone who only "works" at the hospital.
Kauffman has much to do with Alessa's birth and her stay at the hospital. He may not be pleased with the prospect of having to keep the girl alive and held within the basement of the hospital. His mistrust in Dahlia has led him to take certain precautions, those of which he is not in a hurry to let anyone know about.
